Smoking Instead of Eating

People who want to lose weight are usually doing this. For some reason, they believe nicotine curbs their appetite and it’s OK to replace meals with smoking.

Supermodels are notorious for this method of weight loss.

Of course it sounds terribly unhealthy. Why would you do it? What would happen if you DIDN’T do that? Would you gain weight?

First of all, the human body requires food and nourishment in order to survive.

We’ve all seen the nutritional information plastered on the sides of all packages of food. It always states “based on a 2000 calorie diet.”

That is the average caloric intake for the average person. That is the standard.

If you’re an average-sized person, if you eat more than that, you gain weight over time, and if you eat less than that, you lose weight over time.

“But you have to remember that if you are eating less than the daily required amount you are basically harming your body.”

You may be losing weight, but you aren’t getting as many vitamins and minerals, which might cause you to get sick more often.

Plus, not eating enough can make you feel fatigued, agitated because your body is starving, and you simply won’t look as good as you should.

Your breath won’t be good, either.

What if you are smoking instead of eating?

Then not only are you starving your body, you are also harming it more by inhaling tobacco smoke.

Smoking is bad for your lungs, it controls you, it zaps your energy level, it stinks, it makes you sick, it does everything you don’t want to happen.

It even kills you.

People always think that if they skip meals, they will lose weight. Smoking will curb their appetite, and in the long run, they’ll get skinnier, right?

WRONG!

If you starve yourself all day, and only eat one meal at night, you’re going to eat a ton of food in that one sitting.

And because you are starving to begin with, your appetite might convince you to eat the most fattening foods possible, because it is dying of hunger.

Have you ever not eaten for a long time, and when you’re given the option to eat, you choose the worst things for you, simply because you’re starving and you want the quickest meal possible?

“Have you ever just gone to a fast food restaurant because you can’t wait to eat?”

This is what happens if you starve yourself all day.

You end up making wrong, unhealthy choices later.

Not only that, but you’ll feel even worse than you would if you were just eating three normal meals a day.

Your breath will be much worse, because not eating gives you bad breath. Nutrition is good for your breath.

Ever wonder where the term “morning breath” comes from? I bet it has something to do with not eating for 8 hours during the night (and being dehydrated).

But the main point is that people think if they don’t smoke, they will gain weight, which simply isn’t true. You can quit without gaining weight.

Why is this true?

When you quit, your energy levels soar through the roof. Higher energy levels mean increased activity.

You’re not going to be sitting on the couch all night if you’ve got more energy than ever before. You simply won’t.

You’ll want to be more active.

“Being more active means burning more calories. Burning calories means losing weight.”

Yes, you may be eating more because you aren’t smoking, but you’ll also be more active, and the increase in activity levels will trump the overeating.

You won’t gain weight.

I don’t understand why people believe the opposite. It simply isn’t true.

Replacing meals with smoking is not only destroying your body from the inside out, and looking horrible at the same time, but you’re also more prone to eat unhealthy foods once you DO eat.

You’ll be starving and wanting to eat the most fattening foods possible.

Think about it.
