Smoking Around Pets

This is the same exact thing as smoking around people. The effects are the same.

We’re all living creatures who all share the exact same oxygen in the world. We all can get the same types of diseases, and we all, more or less, have the same internal organs.

So why do some people just not care at all about smoking around their pets? Just because they can’t talk back doesn’t mean they like it, right?

I always smoked in front of my pets. I had both cats and dogs.

“I knew my cat HATED cigarette stench, because as soon as I lit up, she would jump off my lap and run out of the room.”

In fact, if I lit up anywhere while she was wandering around, she wouldn’t even come near me.

I could tell once she started to sniff and smell, it irritated her and she’d dart off in the opposite direction.

Could that be a sign that smoking is indeed bad for you?

Yes, I would think so 100%.

Animals can tell when something is bad for them. They can sense danger in an instant, much better than humans can.

Unfortunately, they don’t always have a choice. They can’t always run away from it.

Sometimes they just can’t escape it, so in turn, they are just stuck breathing secondhand smoke.

Does that hurt animals the same way it does people?

Absolutely YES!

In fact, if you’re smoking around your pets, you are most likely cutting their life expectancy by a good year or two, maybe even more.

If they are constantly breathing it in, then their lung tissue will be affected, just like the rest of us.

We are all the same.

“If you love your animal, wouldn’t you want them to live as long as possible, in the greatest of health?”

Wouldn’t you want them to live in an environment which is void of tobacco smoke?

What if they mistakenly ate a cigarette butt off the floor and choked on it? What would you think then? Who’s fault would that be?

Pets can also develop asthma over a period of time.

Perhaps you might mistake their lack of vigor and energy as “simply growing older” when, in fact, it could be directly related to you chain smoking around them constantly all their life.

Think about it.

Smoking around pets is bad, and always will be. It can shorten their lives and cause respiratory illnesses, just like in humans.

Plus it makes them unhappy.

“An unhappy pet makes an unhappy home.”

Do yourself, and everyone around you, including all pets, a favor by quitting.

Soon they’ll come running up to greet you with excitement and vigor. They’ll jump right on your lap and won’t get off.

They’ll love you unconditionally forever no matter what.

Doesn’t that sound wonderful?

I like your website. It is a little light on scientific details and references to specific studies. It is still, more or less, accurate.
