Cancer is bad, but if it’s caught in time, there is a great chance at survival. Know the signs before they strike and before it’s too late.
There is a great chance you may be mistaking these symptoms as something else, like a cold or the flu.
Don’t be stupid!
If something is bothering you and you don’t know what it is, you need to see a doctor about it right away.
Let’s take a look at some of the early signs. The more you know, the better off you’ll be in the future.
Knowledge is power.
Persistent cough – To be exact, a cough that will not go away. Whether you feel sick or not, it is always there.
Are you a smoker? Do you blame it as a simple “smoker’s cough?” It could be that, or it could be something more serious.
A cough signifies that something is trying to get out of your lungs, and your body is telling you something is wrong.
If you feel fine, and you don’t feel sick, and you haven’t had a huge amount of cigarettes to justify the excessive coughing, then I’d suggest seeing a doctor. It’s peace of mind, if anything.
Better safe than sorry.
Chest or shoulder pain – Cancer can effect nerve endings, and often people with it report pain in their chest or shoulders.
If you haven’t been in an accident, to cause injury to these other parts of the body, and the pain persists, then that may be one of the early signs, especially if you’re a smoker.
Nothing wrong with seeing a doctor and ruling it out if it’s bothering you. Muscle pains don’t just happen out of the blue.
Pain can also be experienced in your back, or even in your arms.
Any aching joints that persist for a long time without injury, should be looked at by a doctor. It’s always best to get a second opinion in cases like these.
Coughing up blood – This is one of the tell-tale signs. Normal, healthy people do not do this.
If you happen to be coughing more than usual, and there are traces of blood at all anywhere in the mucus, then you should see a doctor immediately.
If this is happening on a regular basis, then that is a cause for worry.
Alcoholics have a tendency to do this when they drink too much, but this can happen at anytime of the day, drinking or no drinking.
I’m sure it’s a scary sign. Go see a doctor if you see any blood at any time.
Weight loss – If you are suddenly losing an unusual amount of weight, and you can’t explain it, then maybe there is something wrong internally.
If you seem to be eating normally, even if you feel fine, and yet are losing tons of weight, then that is cause for worry.
People don’t just lose weight if their eating habits don’t change. There is something else going on. I’d see a doctor to see if they can explain why the weight loss is happening.
Better safe than sorry.
This is not a complete list of the early signs of lung cancer. This is only a few of them. If something is bothering you, whether it’s on this list or not, and you can’t explain it, then maybe something is wrong.
Smokers have a high chance at getting cancer if they don’t quit, so it’s very important to know the signs before it’s too late.
There is nothing wrong with going to a doctor for peace of mind, even if it’s bad news.
The earlier you go, the better chance you have at survival and beating it if you indeed do have it.
