E-cigs are one of the greatest inventions of this century, in my opinion.
Finally they invent a smokeless cigarette that contains nicotine.

Quite literally, actually.
I’m a huge supporter of this method to quit smoking, and here’s why:
NO SMOKE OR TAR BUILDUP – Electronic cigarettes involve water vapor, not smoke, so that means there is less junk being clogged in your lungs.
When you smoke a cigarette, around 90% of the smoke you inhale STAYS in your lungs and doesn’t get exhaled right away.
Over time, that can lead to some serious tar buildup, which leads to coughing and breathing problems.
Water vapor is just that…vapor. It dissipates.

Now it’s very true that inhaling anything at all is bad for your lungs, but at least with vaping, you aren’t inhaling carbon monoxide and thousands upon thousands of chemicals.
With vaping, you are only inhaling a few: water, Vegetable Glycerine (VG), Propylene Glycol (PG), nicotine, and flavoring.
Not all eliquid is created equal. Some are of better quality than others.
I wouldn’t buy eliquid from a gas station.
I would also try to buy eliquid made in either the USA or the UK. I wouldn’t buy some from China.
You have to read the labels and talk to the workers and make a little bit of an effort to buy what’s right for you.
Some people prefer a stronger throat hit. That is a higher PG liquid.
Some people prefer more vape when they exhale. That is a higher VG liquid.
You can also get 50/50 (PG/VG), and that’s what I used mostly. But I experimented with everything.

There are 1000’s of flavors.
You name it, there’s a flavor for it. You can even find a “bacon” flavored eliquid.
Now I will tell you to STAY AWAY from any “custard” or “butter” type of flavor. They contain the chemical “diacetyl” and that has been proven to cause respiratory disease.
You can mix flavors, too.
I always mixed a fruity flavor with a menthol flavor. It was like dessert! So refreshing.
There are also different strength levels of nicotine.
You can buy 0mg, 3mg, 6mg, 10mg, 12mg, 18mg, 24mg, and 36mg. Maybe even higher, but you definitely don’t want that.
You can mix those, too, to get whatever number you are aiming for. Mixing 0mg and 10mg would result in 5mg.
Typically, and this may vary, 1ml of eliquid of 18mg nicotine content is equivalent to a pack of cigarettes.
That means if you buy one of those tiny bottles of 18mg eliquid containing 3.5ml of juice, you will have the equivalency of roughly 3.5 packs of cigarettes.

You can use that estimation as a gauge of how much nicotine you’re actually vaping on a day-to-day basis.
If you vape 9mg, you would have to vape twice as much juice to get the same amount of nicotine as the 18mg juice.
But as you get less nicotine concentration, you also get less throat hit.
If you remove the nicotine and vape 0mg, you will get zero throat hit.
Now some flavors mimic the sensation of receiving a throat hit, and those are mainly the menthol and cinnamon flavors.
It won’t be nearly the same as inhaling a cigarette, but it’s better than nothing.
On the other hand, the STRONGER the nicotine content, the MORE throat hit.
If you vape 36mg eliquid, it will destroy your throat, in my opinion. I couldn’t handle it. It was way too harsh.
But some like that. Perhaps they were the ones who smoked 2-3 packs of cigarettes a day.

Something I want to say about the whole vaping experience is that you have to get it in your head that it is only temporary.
Don’t think you’re going to vape for the rest of your life. It isn’t 100% good for you, either.
Use vaping as a tool to quit smoking all together, and then quit vaping, too.
The idea is to not do anything, and be the person who you were BEFORE you smoked that first cigarette in your life.
I was 16, now I’m 39 and back to that point finally.

If you continue to vape your entire life you may have ended the smoking aspect of your life, but not the slavery aspect.
You’re still the slave, and still the addict, and that’s not what you want.
You’ll still be scheming to find opportunities to vape.
You have to be careful of that, because it’s easy to do so.
You can vape in far more places than you can smoke.
Just get it through your head that vaping is merely the bridge from quitting smoking, to not inhaling anything ever again.

It’s much easier to go cold turkey from vaping than it is to go cold turkey from smoking.
Why?
Cigarettes contain 4000 chemicals, and you are addicted to those things, too.
So when you quit smoking, you come off not only nicotine, but 1000’s of other chemicals, too.
I know this because when I switched to vaping, I went through withdrawal from smoking.
But if i was still consuming nicotine, I shouldn’t have gone through anything, right? But I did.
I was coming off all that other junk that’s in cigarettes.
When you quit vaping, you are coming off FAR LESS chemicals, and therefore it is much easier to deal with.
It was really easy, in fact.
I will help you and I will show you what to do.
Hi there, I am new here. I have been a smoker off and on for 50 years. I am now vaping 6mg, and wearing a 14mg. patch. It is working pretty good. It cuts the craving way back. Next week I will cut down to 7 mg. patch. This seems to be about the only way it is working for me. I have tried to quit so many times in the past and this is the only way that seems to be working. I am 68 and my last attempt. Wish me luck.
Love your site thank you (also hoping this doesn’t come out entirely in capitals, I can’t seem to get normal font?!) Agree with your comments about E-Cigs, possibly the greatest (Life saving) invention ever. I was a 25 year smoker, I tried patches, gum, inhalers, hypnotism (twice), nothing worked for me. i started using e cigs 3 years ago, and yes you do feel weird and spaced out but it’s not the e-cigs, it’s your body quitting all the chemicals in cigarettes. i was vaping 16mg nicotine, with no desire to go back to cigarettes ever again. Vaping is so much less harmful in comparison, but problem I was left with was I was still a nicotine junkie. 13 days ago i quit nicotine altogether, and although the withdrawal ISN’T AS SEVERE AS smoking, it’s still been tough and I’ve felt completely spaced out, light-headed, restless, and lost for the entire time. I am vaping nicotine-free pear flavored e-liquid to get me through the nicotine withdrawal and then the end game is to ditch the vaping and I’m free! I’m using your days 1-30 for inspiration. Thank you!
Hi, I have just bought one of those tank vapors myself like the comment above. I have smoked for over 40 years. I can’t deny I love smoking. I’ve tried a few vapes and it does actually feel like smoking so I’ve set my date to stop on Monday. I realize I have to stop but have tried so many times but just don’t have the willpower.
With this vapor I’m gonna try my hardest. Is it normal for it to make a very loud crackling noise when you press the button ready to vape? That scared me a bit. Thought it might bLow up in my face.
Very normal. That was my favorite part, actually, the crackling noise. I didn’t like vaping without that noise, because it felt like I was getting more out of the experience than when there wasn’t that noise. It’s hard to describe, but you definitely get used to it, and crave it after a while.
Hi, I just came across your blog tonight. I was looking what are you suppose to be feeling at day 22 after quitting smoking. I have been a smoker for 40 years. I started when I was 15. I had made attempts to quit but failed miserably every time. I am from Australia and I was spending $240 aud on cigarettes per week or every week and a half.
I went out one night with the girls came back home at some ungodly hour and had smoked 2 1/2 packs of cigs. Lets not say how many scotches I had. My husband said ” haven’t you had enough?” I asked for help and he put me on vaping. He quit cold turkey 25 years ago but he knew my struggle with the cigarettes.
Well I have been vaping since the 1st of February and started on the 6 mg of nicotine and he bought me some good vapors from USA and ones that are lady like from the UK and good vape Juice. The flavors are great. I love them.
The symptoms I am experiencing are shocking. I have been sweating it out like profusely and I have been drinking so much water like 4 liters a day plus its hot here in Australia. I am on 6 mg of nicotine cause my lady cigarettes were 4 mg and I have been on that vape pipe like a mad woman cause I refuse to go back to smoking cigs.
My gums are sore and inflamed never had that before. My tongue is red raw, my bones are aching like the pain is real bad and all I want to do is sleep all day which i am blessed enough to do so. I am so tired I can fall asleep anywhere. I cant handle small talk and I am itchy all over and the anxiety. OMG I have heart palpitations especially after a shower.
I am not like this. This is not me what’s happening to me? I am normally so active and so happy-go-lucky but this is not what I signed up for. It hasn’t been a month yet but I have found I am not coughing up a lung and I can breath easier.
I am also forgetting my vape pipe. I’m becoming less dependent on it. I want to slowly reduce the Mg and go down to 2mg slowly and then stop all together. Thus far this is the longest I have gone without a cigarette in my 40 years of smoking. I’m wondering how long am I gonna be in pain and when are things gonna get back to normal for me, minus the cigarettes?
I bet you have never had a woman make so many inquiries but I promise you I am not whinging I don’t do that! I just need to know I need these ailments to “stop” any advice will be much appreciated.
What you are experiencing is the withdrawal of 40 years of inhaling 100’s of chemicals. It’s not just nicotine you are addicted to, it’s all that other crap as well. There are 599 additives in cigarettes, and you’ve been inhaling them all day long and everyday for 40 years. When you suddenly switch to vaping and go cold turkey on those chemicals, there is bound to be withdrawal. I experienced the same thing. It absolutely does go away, but the longer you’ve smoked, possibly the more intense it will be. I smoked for 20 years and it was horrific, I can’t imagine what 40 years must feel like.
Just don’t ever go back to cigarettes. Now you see what you’ve done to yourself over time. It’s simply not worth it. Keep up the great work!
It’s a beautiful page. Thanks we liked it.
